A place at the table

Patrick Clemens, executive director, and Alvin Myles of Matthew 25

“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” Matthew 25: 35-36.

Matthew 25 participants load dining room tables.

And CRC provided the tables and chairs. One of our newest partners is Matthew 25, a nonprofit agency that moves homeless men, especially veterans, from the streets and into permanent housing. They also provide support services such as job counseling, classes in financial management and critical life skills, and just a whole bunch of goodness that allows their clients to have a second chance at life.

Matthew 25 operates a lot of residential housing for its clients. They provide couches, end tables, beds and dressers. But before now, no dining room tables or chairs. Well, of course, the Two Chicks are all about never missing a meal so we were very tuned into the fact that dining room tables and chairs were in order. Actually, they’re technically not dining room tables. Technically, they’re more like break-room tables. We had a generous donor who provided them to us so we could pass them along to a worthy recipient.

The Chicks are happy to think about guys hitting the “re-do” button who will now have a place at the table to enjoy their first meal in their new homes.
