CRC has more than 90 nonprofit partners that need us for everything from personal hygiene products to new clothing to basic household necessities for their clients. Not every nonprofit agency is a good fit with CRC. But that doesn’t mean The Chicks can’t find a way to make a mutually beneficial relationship work.
Take Book ‘Em, for example. Book ‘Em provides books to other nonprofits and schools that serve children and offers reading mentors to children who are struggling. Melissa, left, runs the show and Debbie manages the book inventory. They don’t need the traditional items CRC provides. They need an outlet for books they can’t use – anything with a religious theme or books for adult readers. Just as any nonprofit “takes the good with the bad” from donors (we never say no), they happily accept books they can’t use because they know The Chicks will find a home for them.
The religious books go to many of our faith-based nonprofits and the adult books go to senior centers and VFW posts. CRC has a similar relationship with Nurses For Newborns. We have significant donations of new baby and toddler clothes from a major retailer, but we don’t have many agencies that serve our smallest citizens. So out the baby clothes go to Nurses For Newborns.
Nothing goes to waste in the nonprofit world. We all find ways to help each other and, in turn, help people in need.
